After graduating from the National University of Singapore with a major in Psychology, I worked in a special needs school for children with autism. From there, I experienced the potential of art making as a creative modality for self-expression as I witnessed how the students were able to communicate their feelings, opinions and aspirations through drawings and writings. As a strong believer in the creative process of art making, I aspire to bring the benefits of art therapy to a wider population and to increase awareness that art making can be a process where people authentically express themselves and release powerful emotions. I also have a strong interest in humanitarian missions where I can offer art therapy as an outreach service, particularly to individuals caught in overwhelming situations or crisis in the region. I was honoured to be a recipient of the Lien Foundation Scholarship for Social Service Leaders in 2013.
