Naomi Gunawan was born in Padang, Indonesia and in 2010 she moved to Singapore to pursue her passion in filmmaking. When she first joined film school, she was going through a self-discovery journey, which also reflected in her portfolio work called Broken and Blue Summer. Both films explored a life changing process and its impact on the main protagonist. She also likes to explore the discipline of cinematography in all of her portfolio films and later on in the first film production called Pimple and Dimple.
In her final year, Naomi is a major in Post-production having discovered this passion through editing a second year film, Ink. Ink is a dark family drama with a non-linear based script, which allowed her to have more room to experiment with her cuts. Based on the experience, she learnt that the power of editing could make or break a film, and its ability to accentuate drama. Naomi is the editor for the thesis film Seed.
