The Golden Age of Singaporean Cinema; 60's Malay Film
Singapore became a centre for film making in the 60's. Film icons such as actress Sarimah Ahmad and actor/director P. Ramlee mapped the Singaporean film industry through iconic Malay films. The visual language in these films took inspiration from Hollywood fashion in the 60's and localised it through the Malay language using traditional garments such as the Kebaya. This exhibition shows a glimpse of the film aesthetics in the golden age of Singaporean film.
