Lau Yiling (b.in 1993, Singapore) graduated from Catholic Junior College with a GCE 'A' Level Certificate and is currently pursuing her Bachelor Degree (Fine Arts) at LASALLE College of the Arts.
Colours are the main focus in most of Yiling's works. She makes use of commonly found objects and materials like cotton wool and yarn, to create a series of enchanting representations. Yiling's works tend to blur the lines between fine arts and craft, allowing her to feel and experience the materials she use, bringing herself closer to her art pieces and having a stronger emotional attachment towards them. Her works are inspired by her childhood memories, making use of craft elements as a way of interaction and communication with those around her.
She recently joined a Community Art group POPIN in conducting craft workshops to allow the public to be more aware and learn about Art.
This small installation piece makes use of colored wax to portray a pause in time. Still making use colors, I attempt to show the break in time on a happy note, to try and allow the viewer to appreciate the colors around us.
