Ritual to Routine or Routine to Ritual
Repetition of actions is an inevitable part of our lives because it is through repeating we gain muscle memory and become familiar with the actions. The act of repetition can effect the functioning of the body and mind, as less conscious effort will be required because the body has become accustomed to the actions. Therefore each time the action is repeated, it will be with mindlessness hence we might not even be aware when the activity started or ended.
Thus the question to ask is- is this mindlessness in the everyday positive or negative? This project explores this question through analyzing the dichotomy between rituals and routines of the everyday.
